Crop an image to any aspect ratio, in your browser
Drag the box, pick a ratio or a platform size, and download. Your image is processed on your device and never uploaded.
Drop an image, or click to choose
JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF. It stays on your device.
Need several changes to one photo? The Photo editor does crop, text, filters and blur together.
How it works
- Choose your image
Drop a file in or browse for one. The image is decoded and kept on your device.
- Drag the crop box
Move the box over your subject and drag its edges or corners. Tap a ratio, a platform size or a circle to reshape it around the same spot. The result size updates as you go.
- Download the cropped image
Your browser renders only the selected region to a canvas and exports it. Your original file is untouched.
What cropping does to the file
Cropping removes the pixels outside the box. It does not rescale the pixels that remain, so the kept area stays at its original resolution and quality. The file usually gets smaller, because there are fewer pixels to store.
There is one case where a crop can look soft: cutting a tiny region out of a low-resolution image and then enlarging it for print or a large screen. That is not the crop losing quality; it is the small area being stretched. Start from the highest resolution you have.
Rectangle and circle crops
A rectangle crop keeps a plain four-sided region in your chosen ratio. A circle crop masks the box to a centred circle and leaves the corners transparent, ideal for avatars and logos.
Transparency only exists in PNG and WebP, so a circle crop always exports as a PNG. JPG has no transparency and would fill the corners with a solid colour, turning your circle back into a square.

Why crop in the browser
Most online croppers upload your image to a server and crop it there. This one does all of the work in your browser with the canvas API, so the photo never leaves your device. That matters for screenshots, documents and ID photos you would rather not hand to a stranger.
It is also faster, with no upload-and-wait round trip, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Popular uses
- Crop image for Instagram: Crop to 4:5, square or story and save at Instagram's 1080 px width.
- Crop image into a circle: A round crop saved as PNG with transparent corners.
Tips
- Crop to the ratio you need first, then resize the image to an exact pixel size.
- When a form sets a maximum file size in KB, compress the cropped image afterwards.
- Keep your original file if you might want the full, uncropped image again later.
