Social media image resizer

One photo, every platform size at once. Fill, fit or crop each one, then download them together.

Drop a photo to resize for social media, or click to choose

JPG, PNG or WebP. It stays on your device.

Need several changes to one photo? The Photo editor does crop, text, filters and blur together.

How it works

  1. Choose a photo. It is made into four common sizes straight away: an Instagram square post and story, an X post image and a YouTube thumbnail.
  2. Pick the sizes you need. Tap sizes in the panel to add or remove them. Every platform's posts, covers, banners and profile pictures are listed.
  3. Frame each one. Fill crops the middle of the photo, Fit shows all of it on a background, and Crop lets you drag the photo inside the frame. Set all sizes at once or each preview on its own.
  4. Download all. Every size is saved together in one zip, each file named after its platform and size. Each preview also has its own Download.

Fill, fit or crop

Fill

Covers the frame edge to edge by trimming the photo evenly from the sides that do not fit. Right for most posts.

Fit

Shows the whole photo, with white, black or your own colour in the leftover bands. Right when nothing may be cut off.

Crop

Like Fill, but you drag the photo inside the frame, or use the arrow keys, to keep a face or a product in view.

Tall formats such as stories and TikTok covers have buttons and captions over the top and bottom of the picture. Keep faces and text in the middle of a 9:16 frame so the app does not cover them.

Sizes for every platform

Each size below comes from the platform's own help or advertising pages, checked on the date shown. Platforms change their specs from time to time; where a platform gives only a ratio or a minimum, the note says so.

Resizing without losing quality

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp: the resizer uses a Lanczos filter, which keeps edges crisp when it shrinks a photo. Making it larger cannot add detail that was never there, so a small photo stretched to a 3840 × 2160 thumbnail looks soft. A preview that had to be enlarged says so under it. This is a plain resize, not AI upscaling.

JPG suits photos and keeps files small. PNG is lossless and larger, for graphics with flat colour or text. Your photo is resized in your browser and is never uploaded; saving also drops hidden metadata such as the GPS location. This is an independent tool, not made by or affiliated with any of these platforms.

Common questions

What size should an Instagram post be?
1080 × 1080 for a square post, or 1080 × 1350 for the taller 4:5 portrait, which is the tallest Instagram shows uncropped in the feed.
What size is an Instagram story or reel?
A 9:16 vertical image. Meta's guide gives 1440 × 2560; 1080 × 1920 has the same shape. Keep key content away from the top and bottom.
What size is a YouTube thumbnail?
YouTube recommends 3840 × 2160 (16:9), at least 640 pixels wide, under 2 MB from the mobile app. The YouTube thumbnail maker on this site adds text and emoji too.
Can I make several sizes at once?
Yes. Tap every size you need; each is made from the same photo and Download all saves them in one zip.
What is the difference between fit and fill?
Fill covers the frame edge to edge and trims what does not fit. Fit shows the whole photo and fills the leftover space with a colour.
Can I choose which part of the photo is kept?
Yes. Switch a preview to Crop and drag the photo inside it, or focus it and use the arrow keys.
Can I resize without losing quality?
Yes when shrinking. Enlarging a small photo cannot add detail, so it will look soft, and the preview tells you when that happens.
Does this upload my image?
No. Every size is made in your browser and the photo stays on your device.
Is it free and watermark-free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no limit.
