Writing for a limit
Limits come in two kinds. Essays, applications and abstracts usually count words. Social posts, meta descriptions, text messages and form fields usually count characters, and some count spaces while others do not. The word and character counter shows both at once, so you can check against whichever one you were given.
When text is ready but in the wrong shape, the case converter fixes capitals and the slug generator makes a web-safe version of a title.
Common questions
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The text tools work in your browser as you type or paste. Nothing you enter is sent to a server or saved by us.
How are words counted?
With your browser's own Unicode word rules, so languages written without spaces between words, such as Chinese and Japanese, still get a real count. The counter also shows characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs and a reading time at a stated 200 words a minute.
Do the tools work if my connection drops?
Yes, while the page stays open. The work happens in the page itself, so a dropped connection does not stop the counting or converting.
Is there a length limit?
We set none. Very long text, such as a whole book pasted at once, depends on your device and may take a moment to count.
